Multiple Access Methods

Multiple Access Methods are connected with transponder resource allocation into a number of channels for simultaneous access. This action can be executed in frequency, time and code area.

Types of multiple accesses are:

  • FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access)
  • TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access)
  • CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)

FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access)
FDMA is a sharing usage of frequency band by several signal carriers, in which each carrier will use specific band without overlapping one to another.

TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access)
TDMA is a sharing usage of satellite transponder band frequency by a number of carrier signals, in which each carrier will use the same band frequency at different time in sequential order. Each time, the signal will be compressed to high speed bursts and be transmitted on its own time, one by one.

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)
CDMA is sharing usage of a satellite transponder band frequency by a number of signal carriers. Each carrier will use the same frequency on the same time (parallel). But each signal will have its own different identification characteristic or code.
